Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year is directed by Shimit Amin and produced by Yash Raj Films. Screenplay of the film is by Jaideep Sahni, who has also collaborated with Shimit Amin for Chak De! India. Ranbir Kapoor, Sharon Prabhakar and Gauhar Khan play pivotal roles in the movie. Shazahn Padamsee, daughter of Alyque Padamsee and Sharon Prabhakar, is also making her debut in this film.

Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year is the sometimes thoughtless, sometimes thoughtful story of a fresh graduate trying to find a balance between the maddening demands of the professional way, and the way of his heart – and stumbling upon a crazy way which turned his world upside down, and his career right side up.

While not focusing on the events of 9/11,the storyline explores the period afterwards. At that time, authorities arrest and detain Rizwan, after interpreting the visible aspects of his condition as "suspicious" behavior.After his arrest, he meets Radha (Sheetal Menon), a therapist who helps him overcome the ordeal. Rizwan then begins a journey to find and meet President Barack Obama (Christopher B. Duncan) in order to clear his name.

Just when everything is going great guns in their lives , enters the upcoming singer’s millionaire step brother Dharam Kapoor(Sanjay Dutt) bringing with him stumbling madness and generating hilariously awkward situations in just everyone’s life around. Life becomes challenging for Veer and Prem when Veer’s brother, Dharam pays an unexpected visit to Veer’s place. In order to have his allowance increased, young bachelor Veer had written to his pocket money sourced brother that he is married. Time does not give an opportunity and Dharam’s unpredicted stopover creates inescapable circumstances where Prem’s wife Jhanvi is mistaken for Veer’s wife and Veer’s girlfriend for Prem’s wife.

Apparently Veer is also qualified to be in the hate list of Vidya’s father. Veer and Prem start juggling between the prolonging debt payment to a local don and appeasing Dharam about their false marital status. The outcome results into rib-tickling humorous state where Veer and Prem handle the multiple vague characters arriving unexpectedly at their place and dealing with acquaintances where they proudly swank and cover up everything with lies, lies and more lies. Even the world’s best jugglers can juggle for a limited time. How far do these guys hold on? Hassled, pressurized and scrutinized, do they give up at one point? Guddu is performing a street theatre act when his newfound girlfriend, Sweety BHOPE (Priyanka Chopra) appears on the scene, distraught and announces that she is pregnant. Guddu is shocked at first but realizes quickly that there is no real problem. They can get married right away! They can't. There is a real problem. Sweety reveals her secret; her brother is Sunil 'chopper' Bhope (Amol Gupte). A Gangster with political ambitions. A ridiculously dangerous man. And he already knows. Jai's wife Sheela is grudgingly supportive of her husband but has a 'real' job and is the actual bread- winner of the family. Jatin is killed in a boating accident under mysterious circumstances and Jai feels wretched about losing his father and the times that could've been shared. He stumbles upon the last photograph taken of the entire group of friends and family on the boat, minutes before the accident. Consumed with grief and curiosity, he starts to investigate by undertaking the dangerous experience. He eventually unravels the mystery and in a nail biting finish comes up with a startling answer.
